在这节课中我们主要学习过去进行时，过去将来时，宾语从句。

Too late

为时太晚

The plane was late and detectives were waiting at the airport all morning. They were expecting a valuable parcel of diamonds from South Africa. A few hours earlier, someone had told the lolice that thieves would try to steal the diamonds. When the plane arrived, some of the detectives were waiting inside the main building while others were waiting on the airfield. Two men took the parcel off the plane and carried it into the Customs House. While two detectives were keeping guard at the door, two others opened the parcel. To their surprise, the precious parcel was full of stones and sand!

飞机误点了，侦探们在机场等了整整一上午。他们正期待从南非来的一个装着钻石的贵重包裹。数小时以前，有人向警方报告，说有人企图偷走这些钻石。当飞机到达时，一些侦探等候在主楼内，另一些侦探则守候在停机坪上，有两个人把包裹拿下飞机，进了海关。这是两个侦探把住门口，另外两个侦探打开了包裹。令他们吃惊的是，那珍贵的包裹里面装的全是石头和沙子！

语法

过去进行时

was/were + doing

表示过去正在进行和持续进行的事情。

过去进行时(常搭配when/while/as(当……时候))

while / as 通常表示持续进行的事情延续的事情，when，持续和不持续的都可以表示。

例如：

while/as/when they were sleeping, a thief sneaked in.

表示他们正在睡觉而且会一直持续，所以这三个都可以用。

They were sleeping, when a thief sneaked in.

因为这个动作是不持续的，所以不能用while/as。

变化
过去进行时 She was reading a book at eleven o’clock last night.
变否定 She was not reading a book at eleven o’clock last night.
变疑问 Was she reading a book at eleven o’clock last night.

过去进行时和一般过去时的区别

过去进行时 一般过去时
强调动作的连续不断： 动作的未完成。 仅仅报道过去某一时间已经发生，动作已经完成
It was raining at 10 o’clock last night. It rained at 10 o’clock last night.
She was writing a letter yesterday. He wrote a letter yesterday morning.

过去将来时

  • would do
  • was/were going to do

表示过去的将来

宾语从句

一个句子做另一个句子中的宾语。

陈述句变宾语前加that

You are right.

I think (that) you are right.

that 不做句子成分时就可以省略。
